On January 8, 2008, the first Quarterly Meeting was held at Marie Calendars and conducted by the newly elected president Shawn Kane.  There are several new board members this year and the enthusiam is heartning.  Mark Nosack shared his expertise in witness and suspect interviewing and it was a learning experience for many of us.  The meeting was well attended and the food was good.  We look forward to a year of progress for PIAU.

On September 21, 2007, our Annual Conference was held at the Utah Law & Justice Center, 645 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111.  The speakers were well received and informative and enjoyed by the attendees.  We had a continental breakfast and a full course lunch that was good.   Our speakers were from the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center, Jensie Anderson and Katie Monroe; Mitch Villos, Private Attorney and Mark Cryder from the Salt Lake County Gang Project.  Elections were held and the officers for 2008 are: President, Shawn Kane; Vice President, Dan Hooper; Secretary, Kimberly Cooper; Treasurer, Kris Cantil.  The Board of  Directors are: Van Canann; Richard Fisher; Veronica Hitt; David Lundberg; Ian Shepherd; Amanda Thompson; John Tinsley; and Jim Young.  Mel Ashton is on the board without vote as past president.
